Initial Command Structure:
Assigned to 21st Torpedo Boat Division, 2nd Base Force, Third Fleet.

26-29 November 1941:
Steamed from Terashima to Takao.

6-8 December:
Departed Takao, then with Batan Island invasion force.

22 December:
With Lingayen invasion force, then to Takao.

29 December 1941-2 January 1942:
Escorted convoy from Takao to Camiguin Island. On 31 December removed Rear Admiral Hirose Sueto from damaged YAMAGUMO to become temporary flagship of 3rd Attack Force.

4-8 January:
Escorted convoy from Camiguin to Davao.

9-12 January:
Departed Davao, then with Tarakan invasion force.

16-18 January:
Escorted convoy from Tarakan to Jolo.

22-23 January:
Departed Jolo, then with Balikpapan invasion force.

28 January-9 February:
Escorted convoy from Balikpapan to Camranh Bay.

12-22 February:
At Davao for engine repairs.

23-25 February:
Steamed from Davao to Balikpapan. then more engine repairs.

10 March:
21st Torpedo Boat Division deactivated; reassigned to 23rd Special Base Force, 2nd Southern Expeditionary Fleet, Southwest Area Fleet.

28 March:
Arrived Makassar, then convoy escort duties out of that base.

5 May:
Reassigned to Osaka Guard District.

9-23 May:
Steamed from Makassar via Davao and Takao to Yura, Japan, then patrol/escort duties out of that base.

2-9 July:
Arrived Kure, then docked for repairs.

25 October:
Departed Kushimoto, then patrol/escort duties between there and Yokosuka.

16 March-2 April 1943:
Arrived Maizuru, then docked for repairs.

1 April:
Reassigned to Yokosuka Naval District.

21 April:
Departed Maizuru, then Yura-Yokosuka convoy escort duties.

5 September:
Reassigned to 1st Surface Escort Division, Southwest Area Fleet.

13 September:
Departed Moji, then Japan-Manila convoy escort duties.

15 November:
1st Surface Escort Division reassigned to General Escort Command.

19 February 1944:
Arrived Sasebo for maintenance and repairs.

1 March:
Departed Sasebo, then Okinawa-area convoy escort duties.

21 March:
Arrived Sasebo for maintenance and repairs.

10 April:
Reassigned to 4th Surface Escort Division, Sasebo Naval District.

29 April:
Departed Sasebo, then Japan-Formosa convoy escort duties.

1-15 October:
Escorted convoy from Ishigaki to Keelung, then back to Kagoshima.

16-30 October:
Escorted convoy from Kagoshima to Okinawa and back.

3-30 November:
Escorted convoy from Kagoshima via Okinawa and Miyako Retto to Keelung and back.

5 December:
Arrived Sasebo for maintenance and repairs.

4-5 January 1945:
Steamed from Sasebo to Kagoshima.

24 January-18 February:
Patrol/escort duties between Kagoshima, Ushibuka, and Okinawa.

21-28 February:
Escorted convoy from Kagoshima via Amami-O-Shima to Okinawa.

1 March:
SUNK: by aircraft of TF 38, off Naha, Okinawa (26-17 N, 127-35 E).

20 May 1945:
Removed from Navy List.
