Description: Twin-engined night fighter. All-metal construction with fabric-covered control surfaces.
Accomodation: Pilot and radio-operator/gunner in separate enclosed cockpits.
Powerplant: Two Nakajima NK9K-S Homare 22 eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radials, rated at 2,000 hp for take-off, 1,885 hp at 1,750 m and 1,620 hp at 6,400 m, driving constant-speed four-blade metal propellers.
- Two forward-firing 30 mm Type 5 cannon and two forward-firing 20 mm Type 99 Model 2 cannon in the forward fuselage, and two 20 mm Type 99 Model 2 cannon in a dorsal turret.
- Bomb-load: 250 kg.
