ZUIKAI MARU Class Auxiliary Transport

This class consists of ZUIKAI, CHINKAI, SHIROHAMA, SHIROTAI and REIKAI MARUs. All were completed as cargo ships between 1943 and 1945 for the East China Sea Corporation, Tokyo and Nippon Yusen Kaisha K.K. (NYK),Tokyo. CHINKAI, SHIROHAMA and SHIROTAI MARUs were requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). CHINKAI MARU was torpedoed and sunk in ’44 and SHIROHAMA and SHIROTAI MARUs were bombed and sunk in ’44.
