Yawata Maru Class Transport

(YAWATA MARU, prewar)



This class consisted of KATORI, MEIJI, MISHIMA, SUMIYOSHI and YAWATA MARUs. All five were completed as cargo ships for Hinode Kisen, K. K. of Tokyo between 1935 and 1940. KATORI, MEIJI, SUMIYOSHI and YAWATA MARUs were sunk by American submarines while MISHIMA MARU survived the war.
