Toyohashi Maru-Class Auxiliary Transport

TOYOHASHI MARU was completed as a cargo ship in 1915. Her sisters were TOKUYAMA, TAJIMA, TATSUNO and TOBA MARUs. TOKUYAMA MARU was torpedoed and sunk by German submarine in WW1. All the the others were sunk in WW2 by American submarines except TOBA MARU that was bombed and wrecked by American aircraft in 1945 in Keelung harbor, Formosa. TAJIMA MARU was requisitioned by the IJA in 1941 and converted to a transport. She was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine in 1944.
