TOEI MARU Class Auxiliary Transports

(TOEI MARU prewar)

This class consists of TOEI MARU and TOHO MARU respectively completed in Jun ’37 for Yamamoto Kisen K.K. and Feb ‘38 for Toho Kisen K.K. Both were requisitioned, TOEI MARU by the IJN converted to an auxiliary transport and TOHO MARU by the IJA as Army transport No. 516. Both were torpedoed and sunk by US submarines, TOEI MARU in Feb ’44 and TOHO MARU in Jan ’44.
