TAKEKAWA MARU was completed as a cargo ship in 1939. Her sister was UMEKAWA MARU. Both TAKEKAWA and UMEKAWA MARUs were requisitioned by the IJA and both were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines in the Pacific War.
