Completed in 1928 as a cargo ship for Mitsui & Co., Ltd. of Kobe. Her sister was TATSUTASAN also completed in 1928. TAKACHIHO MARU
was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine in in the mouth of the Yangtze River, China. TATSUTASAN MARU was sunk by unkown causes prewar.
