Departs Kure for Kirun, Formosa (Keelung, Taiwan).
E 16 January 1945:
T.15 departs Kirun for Kagoshima, Kyushu.
17 January 1945:
East China Sea. Makurazaki Bight off Kyushu. At 1317
(I), LtCdr Thomas S. Baskett's (USNA '35) USS TAUTOG (SS-199) spots a
"destroyer" to the west, making 15 knots. At 1329, Baskett fires three Mk. 18-1
stern torpedoes and gets one hit that blows the bow off T.15. She stops, but
does not sink.
At 1339, TAUTOG fires one bow torpedo that hits and disintegrates T.15 at
31-08N, 130-28E. 225 men are KIA.
10 March 1945:
Removed from the Navy List.
