SURUGA MARU - Class Auxiliary storeship


(SURUGA MARU, prewar)

This class consists of SURUGA MARU only. Completed in 1938 as a 991 tons refrigerating and freezing trawler for Nippon Suisan K.K., she was requisitioned by the IJN in Aug ’41 and converted in Oct ’41 to an auxiliary stores ship. She was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine in Feb ’43, NE Buin, Bougainville, Solomons.
