Standard 2A Class cargo ships

(A Standard 2A Class underway)

A product of the Japanese emergency shipbuilding program, the Standard 2A Class cargo ships were roughly equivalent in dimensions to the American Liberty ship class sizes. The 2As were meant to remedy some of the losses the Japanese suffered to American submarines. At least 31 2As were converted to 2AT tankers during the war.
