SHOEI MARU-Class Auxiliary Transport


(SHOEI MARU prewar)

This class consisted of SHOEI and FUKUYAMA MARU respectively completed in Nov ’36 and Jan ‘37. Both were requisitioned by the IJN and converted to auxiliary gunboats, FUKUYAMA being rerated in Jun ’42 as an auxiliary transport. Both were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines respectively in May ‘43 and Feb ‘44.
