SHOEI MARU-Class Auxiliary Transport


(SHOEI MARU prewar)

This class consisted of SHOEI and FUKUYAMA MARU respectively completed in Nov 36 and Jan 37. Both were requisitioned by the IJN and converted to auxiliary gunboats, FUKUYAMA being rerated in Jun 42 as an auxiliary transport. Both were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines respectively in May 43 and Feb 44.
