SEIA MARU-Class Auxiliary Transport

(SEIA MARU prewar)

This class consists of SEIA, NANA and TOA MARU, the latter being renamed TOA MARU No. 2 GO in ’41. They were completed between Apr ’39 and Jun ’40 for Osaka Shosen K.K. All were requisitioned in 1941 by the IJN, SEIA MARU was converted to an auxiliary ammunition ship and the other two served as auxiliary transports. All were bombed and sunk by US or Dutch aircraft between Jan ’42 and Aug ’44.
