OSAKA MARU was completed as a cargo ship in 1922 for the Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) Line. Her sister MOJI MARU also was completed in '22 for NYK. OSAKA MARU was sunk in '44 by an American submarine off Palau. MOJI MARU was requisitioned by the Imperial Army in '41. She was bombed and sunk off Saipan In Jun '44.
