OKITSU MARU -Class Auxiliary Transport

OKITSU and ONOE MARUs were completed in 39-40 for Nippon Yusen K.K. Both were requisitioned in Aug-Sept 41 by the IJN. OKITSU MARU was converted to an auxiliary transport and ONOE MARU to an auxiliary ammunition ship. Both were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines, ONOE MARU, NW Kavieng, New Ireland, in Nov 43 and OKITSU MARU, N Ponape, Carolines in Jan 44.
