KUDAMATSU MARU Class - Auxiliary netlayer

This class consists of KUDAMATSU and SHINURA MARUs, both completed in ‘36 for different shipping companies. Both were requisitioned in ‘41 by the IJN, KUDAMATSU MARU was converted to an auxiliary anti-submarine netlayer and SHINURA MARU converted to an auxiliary minesweeper. SHINURA MARU was bombed and sunk in Oct ’44 and KUDAMATSU MARU survived the war and still appeared in the Japanese register in ’50. Thereafter trace was lost.

From 1 Mar ’45: One 8cm/25cal deck gun, one Type 92 7.7mm MG.
From 9 Mar ’45: One 8cm/25cal deck gun, one Type 96 twin 25mm gun, two Type 96 single 25mm guns, one Type 93 13mm MG, Type 95 DCs.
