KOGI MARU Class - Auxiliary netlayer


(KOSEI MARU, sistership of KOGI MARU, prewar)

This class consists of KOGI, KOSEI and KOEI MARUs, completed between Aug ’40 and Sep ‘41 for different shipping companies. KOGI and KOEI MARUs were requisitioned by the IJN and converted to auxiliary netlayers. KOSEI MARU served as Army transport No. 1031. All ships were sunk during the Pacific war from various causes.

Armament: Standard military equipment: One 8cm/40cal deck gun, one Type 93 single 13mm MG, one single 7.7mm MG, one 60cm searchlight, One DC thrower, Two Type 1 DC racks, 24 DCs, four Type 14 anti-submarine nets and one hydrophone.
