KOAN MARU Class Auxiliary Water Tankers


(KOAN MARU prewar)

This class consists of KOAN MARU only, completed in 1936 for Dairen Kisen K.K. She was requisitioned by the IJN in Sep ’41 and converted in Oct ’41 to an auxiliary water tanker. KOAN MARU was bombed and sunk at Simpson Harbor, Rabaul, New Britain by American and allied land-based aircraft in Jan ’44.
