Kenzan Maru Class Transport

((Sister of KENZAN MARU)


KURETAKE MARU was completed as a cargo ship in 1919 for the United States Government Shipping Board and named Shooters Island. In 1938, she was sold to to Kokusai Kisen (International Steamship Co. Ltd.), K. K., Kobe and renamed KENZAN MARU. In 1941, KENZAN MARU was requisitioned by the IJA and saw action in the invasion of Lingayen Gulf, Philippines. On 25 Nov '43, KENZAN MARU was torpedoed and sunks by an American submarine.
