KAMITSU MARU - Class Auxiliary Transport

(TOMITSU MARU sistership of KAMITSU MARU, prewar)

This class consists of KAMITSU, KUNITSU, TOMITSU and TOYOTSU MARUs, all completed between Sep 37 and Nov 37 for Settsu Shosen K.K. All were requisitioned by the IJN, KUNITSU MARU was converted in Nov 41 to an auxiliary transport, the others, to auxiliary gunboats. KUNITSU MARU survived the war and was scuttled in Mar 47. The others were all sunk from various causes between Feb 42 and Jun 45.
