KAIKO MARU-Class Auxiliary Transport

(KAIKO MARU prewar)

KAIKO MARU, the only ship of this class, was completed for Kaiyo Kisen K.K. in Mar '41. She was requisitioned and converted to an IJN auxiliary transport in Oct '41. Used during her wartime service in northern waters, KAIKO MARU was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine off Paramushiro, Kuriles in Feb '44.
