FUKU MARU, later HOKURYU MARU was the first of 14 vessels of this class built between 1917 and 1923.
HOKURYU MARU was requisitioned by the Imperial Army (IJA) in 1941 as a troop transport.
In Oct '44, she was sunk by a typhoon.
