HARBIN MARU was completed in 1915 as a passenger cargo ship for the Osaka Shosen K. K. (OSK) Line, Osaka. In '37, she was chartered by the IJA as a hospital ship. In Jan '42, HARBIN MARU was sunk by an American submarine.
