Fuso Maru-Class Auxiliary Hospital Ship/Transport

FUSO MARU was completed in 1909 as a passenger cargo ship S.S. RUSSIA for the Russian East Asiatic Steamship Co. of St. Petersburg, Russia. In '23, she was sold ito the Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK) K.K. Line and renamed FUSO MARU In '41, she was requisitioned by the IJA as a troop transport. Later converted to a hospital ship, she subsequently reverted to a transport. In Jul '44, FUSO MARU was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine off Luzon, Philippines.
