CUBA MARU-Class Auxiliary Transport

(CUBA MARU prewar)

CUBA MARU, completed in 1926, was the first diesel-powered passenger/cargo ship of Kawasaki Kisen K.K. Placed on Kawasaki North and South America commercial service, CUBA MARU was requisitioned in September 1941 by the IJN and converted to an auxiliary transport. She was stranded and lost off Sakhalin in Aug ‘42.
