ANSHU MARU was completed in 1937 as a 2, 601-ton cargo ship. Her sister TEISHU (KOSHU) MARU was also completed in 1937 as a 2,612-ton cargo ship. ANSHU MARU
was sunk by an American submarine in May 1944, while sister KOSHU MARU was also sunk by an American submarine in Aug 1944.
