PEACETIME (K) Type Tanker conversion - Class

Six Peacetime (K) Type ore carriers were converted during the Pacific War to emergency tankers: SEINAN, TAINAN, TAKETSU (BUTSU), NITTETSU, YAMASACHI (YAMAKO) and TENNAN MARUs. TAINAN, TENNAN and YAMASACHI (YAMAKO) MARUs were requisitioned by the IJN and served as general requisitioned tankers. TAKETSU (BUTSU), SEINAN and NITTETSU MARUs remained under civilian control. All were sunk between Oct ’43 and Jan ’45 from various causes.
